After showing my advancement in After Effects, I was given the opportunity to create an animated header for the website our organization runs. This was a very rewarding projects because it was up to my design discretion to implement the motion graphics effects and have it contribute to the design of the header.
My concept was that the machine’s knobs caused the elements to be animated into the scene. First, I opened the animation on the knobs to draw the visual attention to their importance, then I zoomed out the camera and began to animate the pieces. First, the cogs’ mask is erased with the stroke-on effect to reveal them turning via an expression. Then, the letters are stroked in using the stroke effect. Finally, the letters are filled using a precomp that contains the full image of the lettering and is revealed with the stroke-on effect.
It really was a fun project for the week! I am so grateful to have an organization that gives me these opportunities and holds me to such a high standard! I love the challenge of a design project, and I am really starting to like motion graphics!
